Guidelines and Regulations
At Old River Outfitters, you can be sure that
we will do everything we can to ensure you have an enjoyable and
successful hunt.
A 50% deposit is required when the hunt is booked. The remaining
portion will be due upon arrival. There are no trophy fees or fees
for not meeting antler requirements. We ask that nothing less than
an eight pointer or a buck with 120 inches of antler be taken, but
no penalty will be imposed for a lesser deer.
All hunters are required to bring and wear a safety harness while
hunting in any treestand.
The state of Iowa issues two tags to each non-resident hunter. You
will receive an either sex tag and also an anterless tag.. If an
animal is wounded we will make every effort to find the animal.
The majority of our stands are ladder stands. We do however encourage
you to bring your own stands if you would like to. We do ask though
that they are climbers or ladder stands. We don't allow any screw
in steps.
Hunters will be responsible for obtaining their own hunting licenses.
Non-residents need to apply over the phone, or online with the Iowa
DNR. We will then find out from the DNR who received licenses and
then get in touch with you. You can apply from the beginning of
May to the beginning of June. After the application period is over
the DNR will do a lottery draw and notify the hunters who drew a
licenses. If you apply as a group either everyone will receive a
permit or nobody will. Spring Turkey licenses are applied for in
the winter. Your license fees are not included in the price of the
hunt.
During the hunting season weather conditions can vary a lot, so
come prepared. We will talk with you shortly before your hunt to
go over what weather conditions we are expecting during your hunt,
so you can be as prepared as possible.
Because we do practice Quality Deer Management, we encourage our
hunters to take a mature doe as well as a trophy buck.
Lodging is not included in the package. We will give you the names
of places to stay in the area.
Transportation for harvested animals will be provided, but you may
bring an ATV is you would like.
